CYC PADDLE
PROGRAM
RULES
and CHECK-OUT SHEET
California Yacht Club
(“CYC”) agrees to rent to the CYC member named below (“Renter”) a CYC-owned
Stand Up Paddleboard or Kayak (“SUP/kayak”), on the following terms and
conditions:
General Rules
- Check-In: Renter must read and sign this Safety Rules and Check-out
Sheet. Renter is prohibited from moving equipment from its normal stowage
position until properly checked out at the Front Desk.
- Guests:
Renter may bring one guest. Guest must read and sign this Safety Rules and
Check-out Sheet and a Liability Waiver at the Front Desk.
- Program Hours: Wednesdays - Sundays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (and you must stop by the front desk to complete your rental before 8pm)
- Area of Operation: Renters may operate the SUP/kayak inside the
Marina del Rey marina. Prior approval is required for use outside the breakwater
and additional fees apply.
- Safety:
- All
Renters must be healthy enough to safely participate in athletic activities.
- No
Renters under 12 are allowed on a Club SUP/Kayak unless accompanied by a parent
or legal guardian.
- Renters
must comply with applicable regulations (including navigation marks) and all
rules governing SUP/kayaks at all times.
- Renters
must wear lifejackets at all times while on the water. These are provided by
the Club.
- Renters shall not, on or off the water, be under
the influence of drugs or alcohol, or engage in any behavior that would
endanger the safety of Renters or others.
- Renters should reference additional safety tips
located on the CYC website.
- Equipment
Return: Renter agrees to
properly clean and stow the SUP/Kayak, lifejacket, and paddles after rental as
follows:
- Use
dock hose to thoroughly rinse salt water off SUP/Kayak, lifejacket, and
paddles and leave in the same state of cleanliness as found.
- Ensure SUP/Kayak is properly stored and locked
on rack. Return lifejacket and paddles as directed at Check-Out.
- Rental Fees:
Renter agrees to pay CYC the following rental fees, per SUP/Kayak, as
applicable:
- $20 for three-hour rental; $30 for full-day
rental; $100 for 24-hour rental.
- Renter authorizes CYC to charge the full amount
of the rental fee to his or her CYC Membership account at the end of the day.
No portion of the rental fee is refundable.
- No-Fee
Rental:
- Renter may, at his or her sole discretion, decide
to collect trash in exchange for No-Fee Rental.
- To qualify, Renter must collect trash in the
marina and/or around CYC’s marina property. A photo showing the collected trash
must be posted that day on a social media platform (including but not limited
to Instagram and Facebook) and tagged @CalYachtClub and #CleanMarina.
- Renter must show proof of trash picked up and
proof of post to the Front Desk at end of rental.
- Amount of trash for No-Fee Rental is as follows:
10 pieces of trash for three-hour rental; 20 pieces of trash for full day
rental; and 40 pieces of trash for 24-hour rental.
- Additional Fees:
- Renter
will be charged a labor fee of $20, per SUP/Kayak, if participant fails to
perform the proper cleaning, stowing, and return of equipment.
- Fees
for lost/damaged equipment are as follows: $600 for SUP/Kayak; $90 for
lifejacket; $90 for paddle at the sole discretion of CYC management.
- Termination: CYC reserves the right in its sole discretion to
terminate Rental at any time.
We currently have two (2) stand up paddleboards and one (1) double kayak.
We do not accept reservations for this program. All rentals are on a first come first serve basis upon sign-in at the front desk.
