ASMBYC Junior Sportsman Of The Year

Each member club of ASMBYC may nominate one individual (Junior) for possible selection each year. The USYRU (now known as U.S. Sailing) dedicated a trophy which will be presented each year to: "exceptional and consistent fairness, courtesy, gracefulness and or heroism in yacht racing activities." William A. DeGroot Junior Sailing High Point Trophy

Presented by Staff Commodore William A. DeGroot Jr. - 8/9/64

The DeGroot High Point Trophy shall be awarded once each year to a CYC member under 21 years old who have demonstrated during the year the best all around racing ability as skipper. Candidates are judge on the following: success and participation in racing events; proficiency in more that one class of boat; considerable weight will be given to a candidates record in inter-club and intersectional events.

Commodore Samuel K. Rindge Racing Achievement Trophy

The Commodore Samuel K. Rindge Racing Achievement Trophy shall be awarded once each year to a CYC member under 13 years old who had demonstrated the greatest all-around proficiency both as a seaman and racing sailor. Candidates racing record; improvement in judgment; responsibility; cooperation; and care for equipment shall be considered.

George E. Roosevelt Junior Seamanship Award

The George E. Roosevelt Junior Seamanship Trophy shall be awarded once each year to a CYC member under 21 years old who has demonstrated respect for and knowledge of the ocean, weather, simple piloting, currents, tides and buoyage systems. Candidates' proficiency in boat handling; and fundamentals of seamanship as well as improvement in judgment; responsibility; cooperation; and care for equipment shall be considered.

Commodore Richard Zimbert Perpetual Trophy

The Richard Zimbert Perpetual Trophy was presented to CYC on behalf of the 1990 Bridge Officers to honor the work Commodore Zimbert put forth to the advancement of the Jr. Program. Judy Levi Legacy Award

Started in 2004, the CYCWA annually gives the Judy Levi Legacy trophy, cash award and personalized medallion, to a junior woman 18 years and under. The purpose of this award is to recognize and support the development of young women, to provide financial assistance in their chosen field, and to help them assume leadership roles for junior women. The recipient will be recognized in either sailing or rowing and the award shall be based on her (1) Potential, (2) Strength of character, (3) Enthusiasm, and (4) Performance.

Candidates should be individuals who have either graduated, or participated on the Junior Committee, volunteered, coached or directed the CYC Junior Program at least five years previous, and who can serve as appropriate models for all CYC Juniors in the CYC Junior Program, and, whose personal and professional lives are exemplary of standards acceptable to the CYC Junior Committee and the CYC Junior Nominating Committee.
