Temporary Clubhouse:
-We submitted our plans to the Planning Department last week and the review / approval process is officially underway.
-We expect the approval and permitting process to take approximately 3 months.
-We engaged Choura Events to design our temporary facility.  We will have renderings to share with you in the next few weeks.

New Team Members:
-Three very important staff members
1)Scott Fenton, Director of Operations – Scott was most recently the AGM at the Montecito Club and has a wealth of knowledge in both food & beverage, operations and membership. Scott will oversee food and beverage and focus on membership growth and experience at CYC. [email protected].

2)Dalia Ayoub, Director of Events – Dalia joins us from Brentwood CC and Wilshire CC where she has built a successful career in events and food & beverage. She will be our point person for all events at the Club. [email protected].

3)Ho Nguyen, Pickleball Pro – Ho developed Santa Monica Pickle ball center and has been coaching Pickle ball for over 10 years. He is available for lessons and clinics starting next week and will help us grow the game of pickle at the Club. [email protected].

Pickle Ball / Paddle Tennis Courts:
-Starting Wednesday, we will replace and rebuild all net posts with an adjustable system that will make it easier to play both Pickle ball and Paddle Tennis.
-This will require saw cutting of the courts and should take just a couple days.
-We will work on one court at a time to minimize downtime.
-This work is followed by a full resurfacing of all 4 courts, a new windscreen on court 4 and all new nets.

Pool & Pool Furniture:
-Pool Heating: We are working through the permitting process to connect a new gas line to the pool to heat it properly.  We anticipate this being resolved and commencing construction in the coming weeks.
-New Pool and Patio Furniture: In anticipation of reopening the pool, we ordered brand new furniture for the pool area and adjacent patio area which we expect to be installed mid-April.
Items include new chaise lounge chairs, new day beds, new club chairs, new umbrellas and four new 6-piece couch and chair settings. •
-New artificial turf is being installed March 26 on the pool patio, providing a multifunctional space for events and wellness activities.

Food & Beverage Service:
-Friday we started our new food and beverage offering that will initially run Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
-In the coming weeks we will look at a rotating menu, food trucks and bar service initially Friday – Sunday.

Marina Facilities:
-Dock Wi-F- the dock Wi-Fi project is complete and will be fully connected early next week.
-For those with slips, we will email you important information on next steps.
-Dock Lighting- We continue to install new lighting on the docks to improve visibility and safety for boaters and our live aboard members. This is an ongoing project, but the majority of the work should complete in the next two weeks.
-Fire Hoses - We are also in the process of replacing all the fire hoses and many of the domestic water hoses on all the docks.
-Safety continues to be a high priority for us at the Club and on the dock specifically.

Facilities:
-Dock Wi-Fi: The dock Wi-Fi project is 75% complete and should be completed by mid-March.
-Dock Lighting: New lighting has been installed around the floating head and on most of the docks, with the remainder to be completed by mid-March.

Fleet Additions:
-Duffy Boat: The Duffy has arrived and will be available for members to rent soon. ·
-14’ Power Dinghy: We purchased a Zodiac Yachtline 440 (affectionately called Casper)

Pool:
-Pool Heating: The gas line to the pool originates from the clubhouse, which has been shut off due to the fire. As a result, we will need to reroute a new gas line from the gas main directly to the pool. This will involve some trenching and minor construction work for approximately two weeks, which will commence shortly. We expect that the pool will be fully heated and operational soon after Opening Day.
-New Pool and Patio Furniture: In anticipation of reopening the pool, we ordered brand new furniture for the pool area and adjacent patio area. Items include: new chaise lounge chairs, new day beds, new club chairs, new umbrellas and four new 6-piece couch and chair settings. We will also be installing new artificial turf and other elements to soften the space adjacent to and around the pool area, providing a multifunctional space for events and wellness activities.

Food & Beverage Service:
-Status Update - Over the past month, we have worked with our Liquor and Land Use consultants as well as the County to expedite the path towards re-establishing new licensed premises. We are finalizing our submittal materials this week and will be submitting to both the ABC and the Planning Department early next week. We will have a more finite sense of timing to obtain final approvals shortly after submittal.·
-Temporary Bar - In the meantime, we resolved an interim solution that will allow us to open a bar in our current tent area 2-4 days a week. With this addition we also hope to slowly roll out food options on certain days and we expect to be able to provide this service by Opening Day or shortly thereafter.
-Temporary Kitchen - We are purchasing a brand new well-equipped 40’ kitchen trailer with everything Chef Frank needs. The trailer is currently being assembled and could be delivered prior to when the temporary tent will be approved. We will know more about the timing on this (as well as with the temporary tent structure) shortly after we submit our materials to the Planning Department next week.

Temporary Clubhouse:
Status Update: Concurrent with the Liquor License process, we have engaged Choura Events to design our temporary clubhouse structure. Choura recently created the temporary Bel-Air CC Clubhouse, the Super Bowl VIP tents in Las Vegas and many other impressive spaces for high-profile events all over the country.
Our submittal materials are nearly complete and we expect to submit to the Planning Department and Coastal Commission next week. The County has been extremely supportive and mindful of how important it is to get our temporary clubhouse approved quickly. It is our top priority, and the County has assured us that it is a top-level priority for them, too. We will learn more about the anticipated timing of approval and delivery soon after we submit our plans and a case file is opened.

Health & Wellness:
-New Activities & Programming: We will be rolling out a variety of new health and wellness programs over the coming months.
-Yesterday, we kicked off our bi-monthly ERG rowing class on the pool patio. This class will take place twice per month every other Thursday on the patio from 9-10am.
-Additionally, two new complementary fitness classes for members will now include a Mat Pilates class on Tuesdays from 9-10am and a Vinyasa yoga class on Thursdays from 9-10am.

-We are also working with the Bridge and Sub-Committee Chairs to improve the look and feel of the Zephyr.

Physical Plant Upgrades

-We are diligently searching for and considering multiple alternative spaces and structures that meet our objectives for a temporary clubhouse.
-We have constructed a large tent in the parking lot.
-We continue to make improvements across the property including the steady advancement of the dock Wi-Fi project, improved lighting for safety, cleaning and repairs on physical spaces as well as Club vessels.

Temporary Clubhouse
-Start the process of designing a temporary Clubhouse.
-Permitting may take some time, we will work closely with the county to expedite the process. This is a Q1 goal for CYC.

Property Updates and Improvements
-Install new shower trailer and laundry room for our live aboard members
-We were able to repair nearly all of our lighting at the exterior of the property along the dock walkways as well as the parking lot.
-Cox Communication has commenced work on the new and major dock Wi-Fi improvement project. This will take approximately 90-120 days, but we will keep you updated on any timeline changes.
-We are in communication with Spectrum to divert our 2 GB line to the dock office from the main Clubhouse. This will require some construction, but we are working to push them to get this done as quickly as possible. This investment will allow us to have a more robust and consistent signal across the rest of the property for our members, guests and staff while on property.
-Floating Head improvements have started with initial repairs to toilets in both the men’s and women’s restrooms. Our goal is to significantly improve this space
-Exterior bathrooms will undergo a similar improvement plan, including new sinks, painting and some cosmetic upgrades unless further work is needed. We will assess as we rotate through some of these spaces.

Security and Safety

It’s crucial that there is no access to the Clubhouse for anyone while the structure is compromised, so we have added additional security guards overnight to secure the Club. We will also add construction fencing tomorrow morning to further secure the space. If you see anything suspicious, please let a manager know right away by calling our main line 310-823-4567. Thank you in advance for your patience if security asks for your membership, and please have your decal or membership card available for display.

Food & Beverage
Please note onsite dining is suspended until further notice. We are currently working on an operation plan to provide F&B to members in the coming days. Please stay tuned for more details.

Sailing & Rowing
All scheduled youth classes and activities are on schedule and open to members. Our boat hoists are operational and available to you. Please reach out to Thomas for any specific needs or questions.

Facilities / Paddle Tennis / Pickle Ball / Pool
While our Clubhouse and locker rooms are obviously closed, the exterior bathrooms (floating dock, north and south) are available with power and water for members to use. Additionally, pickle ball and paddle tennis are open and available to members. The pool is temporarily closed due to loss of power to the heaters and pumps.

Docks
Power was restored by 12pm today, and all members with vessels have access. Please reach out to Chase or Keri at the dock office for any specific needs or questions.

December 12, 2023
If you have not already heard, we are saddened to share that a devastating overnight fire has burned down the structure of our club. The Los Angeles County Fire Department was called to a structure fire at the California Yacht Club around 11:30 pm PST on Monday, December 11. Apparently, two male firefighters suffered moderate injuries and have been taken to a local hospital. None of our employees nor members have been injured in this fire. The fire was contained to the Clubhouse itself and no personal water vessels have been impacted.
