The Epicurean Society explores and enjoys fine food and wine from around the world. The Society presents three formal dinners each year and several informal events. Epicurean Society members have priority for reservations at the formal dinners, which are limited to 60 participants. If there is space available, other CYC members may attend Society dinners at the non-Society-member price. Informal events are open to Society members only.
Founded in 1964, the Epicurean Society was established to
promote camaraderie and conviviality in an atmosphere of fine dining. The
Society originally limited membership to the members of CYC, who were
primarily all men. Spouses were invited to attend only the annual
sweethearts dinner held in February. Today both CYC members and their spouses
or partners are welcome as members of the Epicurean Society.
The society holds three formal
and two or three informal events each year. Formal events (black
tie) typically are the Sweethearts dinner in February, a Spring “Fling”
event in April/May (White dinner jacket encouraged ) and a holiday
dinner in December.
Society membership is limited to 50 CYC members plus their
spouse or partners. All CYC members and their spouses or partners are eligible
to become Epicurean Society members when memberships are available. Potential
members are encouraged to attend a formal dinner before applying for
membership. Society members enjoy a special price and priority for formal
dinners.
New members are required to purchase a charger and sash and
encouraged to purchase a Society tankard as well.
