There was plenty of Breeze for CYC's Mid-Winter Regatta. It was in the low teens on Saturday with nearly twice as much on Sunday as Small Craft Warnings flew from the USCG Station. That wind, combined with an ugly sea state, resulted in two broken masts, one broken boom and at least two competitors swimming - happily, only briefly.

Curt Johnson's J/80 obviously reveled in the big wind. His Avet won every race in its one-design class. Peter Stazicker's team on Trollycar did nearly as well in the 10-boat Martin 242 class - scoring a very easy 11-point victory. John Staff borrowed an Open 5.70 to race in that class's 10-boat one-design fleet and finished a very creditable second - only one point off the top step on the pedestal.
