The California Yacht Club is among the premiere yachting facilities in the world. Founded in 1922, the original clubhouse was located in Wilmington Harbor. The current Marina del Rey clubhouse was constructed in 1967, while our Catalina Station at Ballast Point in Catalina Harbor was erected in 1962. In 2000, the Club was honored as a Platinum Club of America, an award given by the club industry to the top 10 yacht clubs in the nation. California Yacht Club recently completed a major dock renovation and reconfiguration has made the CYC anchorage one of the most state-of-the-art private anchorage's on the West Coast. Our Junior Sailing Center is an excellent venue for classroom education and instruction for our young sailors.
Club Activities
CYC offers opportunities to broaden your horizons, entertain, make friendships, and improve your boating skills. Whether your interests are sailboat racing, power boat navigational racing, cruising to Catalina or other points, rowing, ham radio, paddle tennis, relaxing by the pool, or a comprehensive junior sailing program, CYC provides the perfect venue to share those interests with other club members and friends. Our main dining room and bar are relaxed but elegant places to entertain friends and business associates, and our function rooms and catering department can handle a variety of parties and meetings. The speakers at our Thursday Yachting Luncheons and at the CYC Women's Association's Wednesday Luncheons are often well-known figures who attract an audience from our fellow clubs in the Marina as well as around the Los Angeles area. The Winemaker's Dinners, Chef's Nights, and many "special occasion" parties throughout the year bring our members together in a convivial atmosphere which enhances existing friendships and opens up new ones.
Club Reciprocity
CYC welcomes all reciprocal visitors from established yacht clubs outside of the Santa Monica Bay. We also have an established reciprocal arrangement with Del Rey Yacht Club and King Harbor Yacht Club. Please provide a letter of introduction from your yacht club and/or have a membership card when you arrive. The club will provide you with a guest cash authorization card where you can pay either cash or credit card in the dining room or bar and a dock key with a deposit of $20.00 to use on the dock gates, restrooms on the docks, & the dock carts around the club.
