QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO THE FIRE:

WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE?
So far, everything we have been told has led us to believe the fire started due to an electrical issue. We’re still waiting for the results of the official investigation by the LA County Fire Department to announce a definitive cause. After the investigation is complete and a cause has been determined, we will have more information about the fire’s location of origin.  

MEMBERSHIP:
WHAT SERVICES CAN WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE FOR OUR MEMBERSHIP?
All waterfront activities remain available to members with a greater emphasis on the outdoor activities. This includes rowing, pickle/paddle, and sailing. We anticipate a temporary clubhouse and very accommodating F&B program. We are also looking to add a fitness program and more onsite member programming.

HOW CAN WE CANCEL? WILL WE BE REIMBURSED?
We are honoring the terms of CYC’s By-Laws and will permit the cancellation of any membership with a 30-day notice. As also indicated by our bylaws, initiation fees are non-refundable. 

REBUILDING :        
WILL YOU REBUILD AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
While it is still very early, we have every intention to rebuild the clubhouse. We’ll let our members know as soon as we have more information to share.
We are currently evaluating a temporary tent structure and are targeting delivery of that by end of Q1 2024.

WILL WE BE ABLE TO KEEP OUR BOAT SLIPS DURING THE REBUILD?
We need to wait until the investigation is complete to start looking into the rebuild, but rest assured that we will communicate all updates in real time.Will you be able to rebuild with the insurance money you collect?Great question – we’re looking forward to having an answer to this as well, as soon as the official LA County Fire Department investigation is complete and the insurance company is able to review the results of the investigation.

HOW DO I INQUIRE ABOUT MEMBERSHIP?

CAN I JOIN THE CLUB IF I DO NOT HAVE A BOAT?
Yes! In addition to all of CYC's boating activities we have a swimming pool, paddle tennis & pickleball courts, social events, sailing, rowing, and many other great activities and privileges. CYC also owns three Martin 242 sailboats that members have access to through our Keelboat Program. 

HOW DO I GET A SLIP AT CYC?
Slip assignments are made according to size of the vessel, date of membership initiation and availability. Members can also request a slip in a particular location within the CYC anchorage. Contact our Dockmaster,  Chase Young, at [email protected] for more information.

WHAT IS THE CLUB'S GUEST POLICY?
Guests are welcome at the Club provided that they are escorted by a current CYC member, or a member of the Los Angeles Athletic Club or any of our reciprocating clubs.

To protect the privacy of the Club for all members and guests, members entering the Club may be required to show a membership card upon request. All guests and visitors are required to sign in at the guest registry at the front desk, except for guests accompanied by members to use the swimming pool. All guests using the paddle tennis courts must sign in on the Paddle Tennis Guest Registration Form, authorizing the Club to charge the appropriate guest fee. Failure to follow these procedures may result in a loss of guest privileges and other disciplinary action.

Members must accompany their guests at all times. 

HOW CAN I GET MORE INVOLVED IN THE CLUB'S ACTIVITIES?
In the front of your club roster is a list of all of the chairs for the Club's events. They are a great source of information or you can always call the Club for more information about particular events. Our Activities Directory can be found here.  

HOW CAN WE BE SURE OUR BOATS WON'T BE USED OR DAMAGED BY VAGRANTS? WILL YOU BE PROVIDING SECURITY GUARDS TO PATROL THE MARINA?
We currently have an overnight security guard in addition to a dedicated surveillance staff member during the days until 9:00 pm. We will continue to monitor and adjust these protocols as needed.
